Victory In Motion was birthed in 2020, by Tahtianna Alston, licensed social worker, to foster healing in communities, with a focus on (re)building confidence and self-esteem in women and girls while simultaneously building meaningful connections. Victory In Motion is currently a mobile hub, bringing classes and programs to schools and organizations. The focus has now expanded to include men and boys in the efforts to create healthy perspectives of self and create a safe space for self-expression.
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) defines self-esteem as “an overall reflection of an individual's self-worth that encompasses beliefs about oneself as well as an emotional response to those beliefs.”
Some individuals with low self-esteem may engage in activities such as disordered eating, cutting, bullying, abusing drugs and alcohol, or indulging in other risky behavior.
There is strength in not doing life alone. Victory In Motion utilizes movement, dance, spoken word, peer discussion, and writing exercises as an instrument of self-expression and connecting.
Victory In Motion believes that everyone's voice and story holds keys, wisdom, and value. Through intentionality, vulnerability and transparency, stories can evolve to heal and strengthen the voice already inside them.
Let us set ablaze a domino effect across communities and nations. You too can open the door to your power.
